About Samantha
I currently live in Tacoma, Washington. I am the mostly proud parent of four children, three of whom still live at home. After having given birth to my first three children mostly alone as a young mother, I discovered the existence of Doulas during my fourth pregnancy. I was so impressed by the Doula’s role in childbirth, I decided I had found my calling.
I have almost completed my DONA (Doulas of North America) Certification and have had several successful births as a Doula already. I am happily available to travel within the South Puget Sound Area (Seattle to Olympia). While I am willing to work with ANY expectant Mom, my real passion is for those Mommies who need me the most, i.e. teen moms, single moms, non-traditional family circumstances, etc.
Birth Philosophy
My Birth Philosophy can be succinctly summed up into one short phrase: "it's not my birth". What I mean by this is that while my preference may be for natural, un-medicated births, I realize that my preferences are not the ones that matter. My goal is to do everything within my power to ensure that my clients (or as I call them - my mommies) have the birth experience that they most desire. I am there to provide support, information and advocacy, therefore I will provide my opinion only when requested.
Pregnant women get enough unsolicited advice to which I will not add.
